Prinz William: Alles richtig gemacht
Am «Coronation Concert», am Sonntagabend des Krönungswochenendes für König Charles III, trat Prince William mit einer kurzen Rede auf.
Und bewies, dass er es kann.

Prinz Willams feiert seinen Vater in Gruss-Adresse in Windsor
«Tritt frisch auf, tu’s Maul auf, hör bald auf!» Dieser Ausspruch wird Martin Luther zugeschrieben, dem deutschen Reformator. Der Prince of Wales hielt sich in einer kurzen Ansprache am Konzertabend vor dem Schloss Windsor daran und eroberte die Herzen des Publikums. In seiner zweiminütigen Ansprache machte er alles richtig. Zum Beispiel:
Humor
«Keine Sorge, ich mache nicht wie Lionel Richie eben die ganze Nacht lang», sagte der Prince of Wales zur Einleitung und in Anspielung auf Lionel Richie, der unmittelbar vor ihm «All’ night long» gespielt hatte. Merke: Humor ist immer ein guter Türöffner. Wichtig: Selbstironie kommt gut an, sich auf Kosten anderer lustig machen ist eher schwierig – ausser die Person findet es selbst auch lustig.
Social Proof
Darunter verstehen wir Anspielungen auf Personen, Meinungen oder Produkte, die allgemein hoch im Kurs stehen und eine hohe Reputation geniessen. Prinz William nutzt diese Taktik, indem auf seine Grossmutter, die kürzlich verstorbene Queen Elisabeth referenziert, die «von da oben ein Auge auf uns hat und heute eine stolze Mutter wäre». Tosender Applaus des Publikums.
Die magische Drei
Dass die Zahl 3 in der Rhetorik eine grosse Rolle spielt, ist längst etabliert. Viele Argumentationsmuster bestehen aus der magischen Drei: Vergangenheit – Gegenwart – Zukunft. Pro – Contra – Quintessenz. Erstens – zweitens – drittens.
Auch Prinz William folgte dem Muster und erzählte drei kurze Geschichten über seinen Vater, die alle die Botschaft «Die Krone ist Dienst an der Gesellschaft» folgten. Zunächst erzählte er, wie Charles seit 50 Jahren «jede Ecke» von Grossbritannien besucht habe, um anderen zu dienen und ihnen zu helfen, ihre Ambitionen zu verwirklichen.
Dann erinnerte er daran, dass Charles schon auf die Notwendigkeit des Umweltschutzes aufmerksam gemacht habe, lange bevor es ein tägliches Nachrichtenthema wurde.
Und schliesslich, drittens, dass Charles schon immer keinen Unterschied der Herkunft, des Glaubens oder der gesellschaftlichen Stellung gemacht habe.
Die Rede des Prinzen endete nach exakt 2:50 unter grossem Beifall.

Good evening, your Majesties, good evening, Windsor! A huge thank you to everyone for making this such a special evening.
I want to say a few words about my father and why I believe this weekend is so important.
But don’t worry, unlike Lionel, I won’t go on all night long.
As my grandmother said when she was crowned, coronations are a declaration of our hopes for the future. I know she’s up there, fondly keeping an eye on us. She would be a very proud mother.
For all that celebrations are magnificent, at the heart of the pageantry is a simple message: Service.
My father’s first words of entering Westminster Abbey yesterday were a pledge of service. It was a pledge to continue to serve, because for over 50 years, in every corner of the UK, across the Commonwealth, and around the world, he has dedicated himself to serve others—both current and future generations and those whose memory has not been neglected.
Take the natural world. He warned us of the risks for our planet’s health, long before it was an everyday issue. Or the Prince’s Trust, has supported over a million young people, many from disadvantaged back to realize their own missions.
And perhaps, most importantly, of all, my father has always understood that people of all faiths, all backgrounds, all communities deserve to be celebrated and supported.
Pa, we are all so proud of you.
I also want to express my pride and gratitude to the millions of people who serve—in the forces, in classrooms, hospital wards, and local communities. I wish I could mention you all. Your service inspires us, and tonight, we celebrate you too.
I commit myself to serve you—King, country, and commonwealth. God save the King.
